Chris is a lighting designer based in Bristol.

 

He has worked extensively with Gecko over 15 years, becoming  a key member of their devising creative team. Lighting design for the company includes 'Kin', 'a little space', ‘The Dreamer’, ‘Time of Your life’, ‘Institute’, & 'Missing'. He is part of the Creative Team for newly formed immersive theatre company Dream Awake, formed of many of the Gecko creative team.

He has also worked for many years at Bristol's Tobacco Factory Theatres - lighting 6 shows - most recently 'Oliver Twist' and 'Who's Afraid of Virginia Woolf'. He has recently lit gig-theatre for maker Dom Coyote, opera for Opera Project, family shows for Pins and Needles and Anitomical, and designs for choreographers Arthur Pita, New Movement Collective, Renaud Wiser, Fertile Ground, Sophie Nuzel, and Holly Thomas.

Chris has toured widely as a re-lighter both nationally and internationally - working with Rambert, Sadler's Wells, Headlong, Kneehigh, Wise Children, Bristol Old Vic, Protein, Gandini, Dan Daw, and Mark Bruce, amongst many others over almost 20 years.

Chris is a visiting lecturer at Bristol Old Vic Theatre school, where he works with the students on their own lighting designs, supervises technical workshops and fit-ups, and provides lighting design for the school's own productions.

Chris is particularly interested in working on devised productions, and productions where movement and music are integral part of the piece - physical theatre, dance and circus.
